Invitation to IAS 60th Anniversary Celebrations

Members of the University community are hereby invited to participate in the 60th-anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Institute of African Studies and the founding of the Ghana Dance Ensemble. 

Below are the details for the two-day celebrations: 

 

DAY 1: 

Event: Launch of the Anniversary and Round Table Discussion by past Directors. 

Date: Thursday, 14th December, 2023. 

Dr. Edem Adotey Receives Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programme for 2023-2024

Dr Edem Adotey, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana is a recipient of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program (the “Fulbright Program”) for 2023-2024. This prestigious fellowship is the United States government’s flagship international educational exchange programme and aims at deepening mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries.

IAS and ASAA hosts Pan-African Conversation dubbed "Revitalizing Pan-Africanism in the 21st Century"

 

We would like to extend a warm invitation to attend a Pan-African Conversation on 14 September 2023. The Institute of African Studies and the African Studies Association of Africa will be hosting this event, and the theme of the conversation is "Revitalizing Pan-Africanism in the 21st Century." 

 

IAS welcomes Dr. Harry Odamtten

The Institute of African Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon, is delighted to welcome Dr. Harry Nii Koney Odamtten as a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow. Dr. Odamtten, an Associate Professor of History at Santa Clara University, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the institute. He earned a Dual Ph.D. in African American African Studies and History from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2010, following his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Ghana, Legon, in 2001.
