Mr. Ebenezer Kwesi Bosomprah, a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, has been nominated for the Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Fellowship Award. This prestigious fellowship, offered by the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), aims to support promising Ph.D. students in Africa who are developing doctoral dissertation research proposals. The Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Fellowship Award provides financial support for short-term research costs associated with the development of a doctoral dissertation proposal. Additionally, the program includes two workshops per year, specially designed to foster connections among fellows, refine research questions, align research methods, engage with relevant literature, and finalize their doctoral research proposals.
Mr. Bosomprah's research interests span children and youth studies, humanitarianism, religion and technology. His doctoral research project, titled "Conceptualisations of Children in Conflict with the Law in Ghana," explores the societal constructions of children as offenders coming into conflict with the law.
Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., Mr. Bosomprah served as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy of the University of Ghana. He also served as a project assistant for the Archives of Activism Project. Notably, he coordinated screening campaigns for the documentary "When Women Speak" produced by the project. Furthermore, Mr. Bosomprah is an active student editor for the Critical Investigations into Humanitarianism in Africa (CIHA) blog.
