Prof. Grace A. Musila is an Associate Professor in the Department of African Literature at University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She obtained her BA (Hons) in Language and Literacy studies at Moi University and had her M.A degree in African Literature at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2004. She took her Ph. D in African Literature at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Her teaching and research interest centers on; Anglophone African Literature; African Popular Culture; African Feminism and; biography. She took up an appointment as a writing consultant at WTIS Writing Center, taught in other prestigious institutions such as; University of Johannesburg, Stellenbosch University as a tutor and lecturer and later rose to the rank of an Associate Professor at the Department of African Literature at the University of Witwatersrand from 2018 to present
She has also co-edited and reviewed several books and articles, some of which are; A Death Retold in Truth and Rumor, Rethinking Eastern Africa Literacy and Intellectual Landscape and Against Collaborations- or the Natives Who Wanders Off.
Prof. Musila is an Alumnus of the; National Research Foundation Related Researcher Grant, Harold and Doris Tothill Scholarship, WITS Postgraduate Merit Award and the Andrew Mellon Postgraduate Mentorship Grant.
Prof. Musila is currently a member of the Modern Languages Association; African Literature Association; African Humanities Program and a Co-editor of the Contemporary Journal of African Studies(CJAS).
