Dr. Ivan Marowa

Dr. Ivan MarowaIvan Marowa is a senior lecturer in the Department of History Heritage and Knowledge Systems at the University of Zimbabwe. He holds a PhD in African History. He is a promising academic and researcher whose research interests include cultural and social histories, displacements, environmental history, human-wildlife conflict, social conflict and social memories. Marowa has published extensively on some of these aspects and is currently researching on social conflict in rural communities in north-western Zimbabwe. He recently received research fellowships from King’s College London (KCL) and the African Peacebuilding Network (APN) to conduct research on Social Memories and the Dynamics of Social Conflict. He has co-edited a book on Remembering Colonialism in Zimbabwe. Currently, he is working on a monograph on Making of the State in North-western Zimbabwe: Displacement, Social Memories and Social Conflict, 1940-2020. He is a member of the Zimbabwe Historical Association, CODESRIA, Zambezi African Studies Association and Southern African Historical Society
