Andrea Ford

I studied at the IAS as a foreign student from the United States, and participating in the program made my experience living in Ghana immeasurably richer. I gained insights about African cultures - traditional, modern, and in many ways intertwined - through both course material and the experience of working (and relaxing) with my wonderful, collaborative colleagues there.
My focus was on religion and development, which I investigated by examining differences and changes in value systems. My B.A. is from the University of California at Berkeley, and currently I am studying for a Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of Chicago (my winters are a lot colder now than they were in Accra!). I certainly hope to remain connected with IAS
throughout my career, and can't thank the faculty, students, and staff enough for the warm and vibrant intellectual community of which I had the pleasure of being part.
